Can Vicks Kill Dogs?

Absolutely. Vicks can kill dogs!

There is a lot of misinformation about when it comes to Vicks Vapour Rub and dogs. So we took a look at the ingredients individually to make sure we’re confident.

Firstly let’s take a quick look at the ingredients –

Camphor – Toxic
Eucalyptus Oil – Toxic
Menthol – Irritant
Inactive Ingredients
Cedarleaf Oil – Dependant on Animal
Nutmeg Oil / Myristica Oil – Toxic / Toxic
Petrolatum – Safe In Small Quantities
Thymol – Dog Safe
Turpentine Oil – Veterinary Supervision Required

We can see from the listed ingredients at least 3 are toxic to dogs and can have dire consequences.

Please don’t ever use Vicks Vapour rub on your dog or any you meet on your journies.

There are much better dog-safe barrier treatments and flea remedies that will wipe out the need to ever go near the Vicks!
